have u considered that mayb the right thing to do is send ur family over to another place, say... US??? while u (by u i mean the dad) fights for their country? and mayb change ur name so that whoever ur fighting against doesn't find ur family?? but of course, if u die then ur family is gonna be sad, but at least they r gonna be alive. and mayb they take trujillo out, and all his family, and what if then someone comes but he doesn't know how to run the country? all the stuff you fought for and all for nothing??? i bet u hadn't thought 'bout this, right? but if u actually fight for ur country and win, and it actually gets better, then i guess u were lucky (T_T). but getting wat u want is very hard, and sometimes u just can't actually get it. and in this case is more likely that u will never get wat u want, which is Puerto Rico to be free. eventually they will, but it's more likely that the dictatorship continues, cuz even if they are ppl who hate the dictator, they are ppl who could love it, and if those ppl fight, who do u think is gonna win? the citizens/civilians or the military AND civilians??? the odds might not always be with u, and if u learn from ur mistakes u'll see that the story repeats itself, and dictators have been around since , well, EVER SINCE I REMEMBER,lol. and ppl fight, win, and someone else comes, so wat's the point? just leave ur country which is freedom-free and go to a free country, that's what i would do, it's the safest strategy, u could even change ur name...

Everything can be done, no matter how hard or how long it takes to be done. And even if you lose, your work shall not be left in vain. Your opinions and ideas will make more rebellions rise, just like the rebellions in the middle colonies wayyyyy back when America was being colonized. BTW, it's not Puerto Rico....it's DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. How would you leave in the first place? It's not easy to leave from a place which doesn't let you leave. And changing your name honestly doesn't do a thing. That's DEFINITELY not the safest strategy. It's always better to try and try, than to do nothing and let evil overwhelm you.

I agree with you eduardo in most of the things. But the part that says that changing your name doesn´t work is not always true. For example this people have not gone to US so the US (if they even had)don´t have a picture or record about you so you could go there without any problem and you could say a different name than you really have. And iuf you wanted you could even change your face too with plastic surgery. So going to the US with everything differnt would work if you are able to pull the whole thing off.

Do you know how much plastic surgeries cost? Even back then? I don't even know if plastic surgeries even EXISTED in 1960. Plus, how do you know that they have enough money to escape? The government blocked out all communication, and even if it's just a letter, they have to check it for anything suspicious. And they need visas, and the government gives visas, and when you get a visa, even if you changed your name, you will still need to show birth certificates and driver's license in the US, which have your REAL name. Then when the government finds out you illegally stayed in the US, they will deport you back to the Dominican Republic, and the dictatorship there will throw you in a shredder. But assuming the government in both countries are stupid and you get to pull everything out PERFECTLY...you might actually be able to escape.

Marco about your coment I must say that Even if the whole family thought Mundo was crazy he and tio Toni knew how they felt, what they want to do to make their country better. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if Pupo hadn't failed them and the cry of freedom was heard then nobody would see them as crazy. they'd see them only as heroes. Then at this point risking your family would have been worth it because you actually did something you believed in because you say: "would u really sacrifice ur life, and perhaps ur identity, to save something u don't believe in?" which would actually be false because Mundo does believe in his ideas and he knows he needs his familiy's support but if he didn't he wouldn't have risked his life and identity for nothing. He would've given his family a better life without fear.
